She's Got Claws is Micci Lou and Chris O-Ten. Micci Lou writes, programs, arranges, engineers and produces the songs at *Chameleon Studios (UK). Chris O-Ten is now a valued member of She's Got Claws who co-writes and co-produces with Micci as well as performing live bass on the Doppelgänger album.
Brief Bio...
From humble beginnings using an Atari STE and Akai S3000XL samplers for her debut album 'She's Got Claws', Micci is now using an Apple MacBook Pro running the music software Logic Pro X and monitoring through her 8-bus, 32 track Soundcraft Ghost desk.
Micci was inspired to begin her journey of producing when she began listening to Trent Reznor (NIN) and The Prodigy in the 90s. These artists like to push the boundaries with their production techniques by throwing away the rule book, which Micci finds so inspiring.
As a solo artist, Micci released her self-titled debut album She's Got Claws in 2012, which was produced and written on her retro Atari STE and Akai S3000xl samplers. This album gave her the initial foundation to build upon and to develop her signature sound.
Synthetic Emotion then followed and released in July 2015 using her MacBook Pro with Logic Pro X. This concept EP tells the story of a relationship between a scientist and a humanoid. Through love and loss, the humanoid learns how to pick herself up from emotional turmoil. Vocally she experimented with robotic effects to make her voice sound as close to how she believes a humanoid would sound when she sings.
The opening song I Die For You is highly affected, however as each song unfolds, the vocal effects are lessened as the humanoid is becoming more human.
In 2016, Chris Payne, the keyboardist and violinist to Gary Numan, asked Micci to write an instrumental album of 16 tracks entitled Euro Electronic 1, who signed her to his company called The Electronic Music Library, so he could put her music forward to TV, films and multimedia. This was a non exclusive deal, so she could work for other libraries and labels.
In March 2018 she released her 2nd studio album War Torn, which is an anti-war album and expresses her observations of war from many perspectives. This was a very heartfelt release to raise awareness of the perils of war and how it affects families. Micci felt compelled to write this and approached UNICEF with this album. 10% of profits went to this charity.
25th May 2018 saw the re-release of Synthetic Emotion (Rewired) EP. Remixed and remastered, as Micci felt this needed more punch and edge to the production. There was a limited run of hard copies which included brand new artwork.
Chris O-Ten is now onboard as a valued member of She's Got Claws and not only contributes to the writing and the production, he performs live bass across the new album Doppelgänger. The sound for this album has overdriven bass to compliment the fractured beats, synth hooks with dulcet female tones.
